2026 Fair Queen Application
Greetings!
The Guthrie County Fair Board is searching for their 2026 Guthrie County Fair Queen. Each year, we are proud to host the tradition that highlights the beauty, personality, leadership, communication skills, and community service involvement of young women in our county. Applicants are encouraged to be involved in a community organization, such as 4-H, FFA, girl scouts, church group, etc. Applicants are not limited to 4-H and FFA membership.
The young lady chosen to wear this crown will not only have the privilege of representing Guthrie County at the Iowa State Fair Queen competition, but will also be awarded a $300 scholarship prize from the Guthrie County Fair Board at the conclusion of her reign.
The competition is open to young ladies between the ages of 16 and not older than 21 years of age on August 13th, the first day of the 2026 Iowa State Fair. The candidate must reside within Guthrie County (or an adjoining county if the majority of her activities are within Guthrie County). Contestants must never have been married or have had children.
Please see the application request form. The deadline to request an application is July 15, 2025. Applications will be mailed to candidates after receiving their request and must be returned by July 25, 2025. This is an absolute deadline. An application received after this date will not be considered in the 2026 Guthrie County Fair Queen contest.

Shyann Young
Young is a 17-year-old senior at ACGC high school. She participates in volleyball, track, 4-H, concert band, marching band, jazz band, choir, large group speech, individual speech, art club, theater and student council. She has also been active in swing choir, FFA and FCCLA.
As part of her duties, Young will compete for the title of Iowa State Fair Queen in 2025. The other contestants were Addison Laughery and Kassidy Olson.
On Sept. 1, the 2024 Guthrie County Fair Queen, Riley Gibson, passed the crown to her successor, as Shyann Young was announced as the 2025 Guthrie County Fair Queen.
